Berry, citron, and a songbird. This is Oh My Mahjong's "Citrus Songbird" mat — a blush garden of lemons and leaves with a little watercolor songbird right at the heart of it — dressed with their "Dandy" tiles: magenta-and-green stripes over crisp white, good enough to eat. White acrylic racks and pushers, olive-green shufflers to accessorize, and a round pedestal table pulled up to the plantation shutters for all that morning light. Fresh, sunny, and just the right amount of garden party. Some tablescapes whisper; this one sings. More on @mahjongedits.

Coral, cornflower, and just enough chinoiserie. This is Oh My Mahjong's "Heron" mat — peachy coral with cranes wading through a soft green-and-white garden — dressed with their "Moonlight" tiles, a powdery cornflower blue that positively glows against all that pink. It's Oh My Mahjong down to the details: white acrylic racks and pushers, plus their olive-green line-reader and "Let's do the Charleston" cards for a preppy pop. Add a coral block-print cloth and bamboo folding chairs, and the corner of a room becomes a table you don't want to clear. Soft, sunny, and a little bit grandmother's garden — this one hums. A little Gatsby glamour. This is Oh My Mahjong's "Gatsby" set — deep navy tiles on a navy buffalo-check mat, warmed up with tortoiseshell racks and the prettiest Art Deco place cards. Where my other tablescapes go bright and coastal, this one leans moody and old-money — clubby navy in the evening light. And a first: press play below for my debut Mahjong Edits Short, straight from the table.

Bright and preppy. This is Oh My Mahjong's "Nantucket" set — cherry-red and green striped tiles with the prettiest chinoiserie art: a Staffordshire spaniel, blue-and-white ginger jars, trellised bamboo, and a little hummingbird one-bam that keeps turning up across my collection. It packs away in that sweet pink Oh My Mahjong pouch, styled here on a pink-and-red scalloped mat with clear lucite racks and pushers I found on Amazon. Crisp, coastal, and impossible to walk past — Nantucket, by way of the mahjong table.

Gone coastal. This one's all seafoam, aqua, olive, and white — a beach set I found on Amazon that I couldn't scroll past, styled here on a blue-coral mat with an oyster-shell dish for the dice. The details are the whole story: a little one-bam bird mid-flight, seahorses standing in for the dragons, and seashells where the dots usually go. Some sets you play; some you just want to sit and look at. This one's both. Crak, Bam, Dot — but make it summer. More on @mahjongedits.

The inaugural tablescape — and the start of a series, both here and on @mahjongedits. On the table: The Chinoiserie Set in "Polished Pink" by Southern Sparrow (the koi, feathers, and ginger jars won me over instantly), a hot-pink and citron mat, clear acrylic racks so nothing competes with the tiles, golden dice in a striped trinket dish, and a little cordless lamp for glow when the afternoon light fades.
